Rise to Addiction

Rise to Addiction is from the UK and the brainchild of Guitarists Steve Wray and John Slater formerly of BLAZE. Together they joined forces with Singer Leigh Oates, Bassist Joel Graham and drum lunatic Aynsley Dickinson formerly of NINEDENINE, Rise to Addiction represents a very real threat to the pop punk and tired metal that has been peddled around the scene for too long...

"We're really from a traditional British Metal background, but we all love songs and good song writing. I think this has really defined our sound. For example Steve and I both love Sabbath and early Ozzy but we're equally enamored with David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Mike Oldfield" says John.

"There was some great Metal that came out in the 90's, bands like Machine Head and such, but when we got together and started thinking about the kind of music we want to listen to, and therefore make, we realized that a lot of stuff out there is very rhythmic but lacking in Melodic substance. We figured that if we could combine heavy grooves and really focus on good song writing then we'd have something really special on our hands" adds Steve.

Individually the members of RTA are all hardened touring and recording veterans from early ages and collectively have some 10 albums to their credit and too many tours to count!

In October 2004 RTA entered backstage studios to record 3 tracks with veteran producer Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Trivium etc.). The results can be heard as samples on this page.

"Leigh's voice is so powerful with charisma to match!" enthuses Steve..." I've never heard such character and personality come through in such a powerful voice before, its the voice we searched so hard to find.

"Both Leigh and Aynsley had worked in a previous band together called Ninedenine who I first saw playing at the same festival as our previous band about 2 years ago. I kept in touch with them shortly after as they made quite an impression on me..." continues John.

So, can Rise To Addiction, meet the high expectations which are loftily raised by this, arguably overblown, Biography?

We think so. Check them out.
