cleveland, ohio, bands, rock, heavy metal, metal, clubs, links, music, music equipment,

It all started back in April of 2002, the members of “Myth” were looking to add a new guitarist to the fold. In comes Howard Paul Ross to fill the vacancy, however, the singer for “Myth” decided not to pursue the opportunity. So, Howard and the former members of “Myth” decided to form a new project. Aaron Thomas (bass), Peter “Zeus” Zouzias (drums) and Howard locked themselves up in a nasty, hot, disgustingly small practice space on Cleveland’s near Westside and began tightening the compositions and re-defining their sound; Straight up hard rock material influenced by bands from the 70’s to present day, without regard for current trends and fads. For eight months they jammed, all the while searching for a vocalist who could actually sing in key, and had the ability to command an audience.

Finally in December of 2002 Tj RawxXx stepped into the picture after finding the band’s flyer at the Odeon during a Saliva show. Now the real work could begin, re-arranging songs to fit Tj’s soulful yet powerful vocal style. After three months of rehearsals “Hydra” was unleashed at the Odeon on March 21st, 2003 as the opener for RoadRunner Recording act “Theory of a Deadman.” Shortly thereafter Peter had to move out of the area and was replaced with Ricky "The X Factor" Exton, a noted session player who's also played with world famous instrumental guitarist Neil Zaza. Since then the band has played all around Northeast Ohio and was the winner of the first Cox/WMMS Buzzard Blast in October 2003. In March of 2004 the band was nominated  by the Free Times readers as one of Cleveland's best modern rock bands.

Hydra has opened for several national acts including; Living Colour, SOiL, Whitesnake/Rock Never Stops Tour, Theory of a Deadman, and Collective Soul. The band was also featured on the WJCU College Radio Benefit  Show, Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles 2004, and the  "We Salute You" USO Tribute Show at the Odeon in Cleveland.

Venues Hydra has rocked: The Odeon, The Cleveland Agora, Tower City Amphitheater, Mango's, Sadie Rene's, Hi-Fi Club, The Carriage House, Peabody's, Scene Pavilion, The Runway, and the High Five in Columbus.

Currently receiving airplay on WMMS 100.7, WJCU 88.7, and WRUW 91.1, with more  to be added.

Full length debut CD being  mixed by Billy Morris (Kidd Wicked, Racer-X, Warrant, Jani Lane) at his new studio, Lava Room Recording. Anticipated release late October 2004.
